INTRODUCTION OF ANDAMANS:

 

                      Andaman consists of about 527 Islands, both small and large. The coast line stretch for about 100 kms .We find dense forest all around.

           The area of the islands is about 8.293 sq kms .The capital

City is Port Blair. (i.e.) the land area is 92 %. This is covered with rain forest, out of 527 islands only 38 islands are blessed by inhabitants. The rest is left Barrens.

 

Andaman was once known as Kalapani. It was synonym for Andaman .During the British rule a considerable recognition been given to this islands. The name Kalapani has become well popular mainly for two reasons…

 

1.   It is so called because of the deep blue color of Andaman sea water.

During the rule of the British they used to keep imprisoned very dangerous culprits and revolutionaries from mainland, so that they could not establish contacts with their concerned groups. The British choose these
